Let me start this off by saying: I really love Family Christmas Sessions. Christmas has always been special to me but it's become so even more meaningful after becoming a professional photographer. Instead of just enjoying special moments and memories with my own family, I get to help create special moments and memories for someone else's family, too. And that's exactly what happened when the Littlejohn family booked me for their Family Christmas Mini-Session in Pensacola.
Christmas Photos in Pajamas
The Littlejohn family got in touch with me after searching for a Pensacola Family Photographer and coming across my photography website. They presented me with their vision: the whole family bough matching flannel (including a set for their precious pet Corgi, how cute!), and wanted to capture the moment with a festive backdrop. The caveat was that it had to be near NAS Pensacola, as the family had a very busy work schedule and didn't have the time to drive a long distance for their session.
Where to take Christmas Photos in Pensacola
Fortunately for everyone, Naval Air Station Pensacola has a wonderful Christmas display this time of year out in front of the Mustin Beach Club (all my Pensacola photographers, take note!). This year, they have a ~25 ft. tall tree, and a cute little sleigh that you can sit in. How convenient! I'll also note, I have noticed that the NAS Lighthouse, (another great photoshoot location on base) has received a festive makeover for the season.
We started our session promptly in the late afternoon. With a one year old and a Corgi, the scene was a little chaotic. I always tell the families with infants and toddlers that it's really their show, not ours. If they don't want to cooperate and look at the camera, well, I guess we are just at their mercy. This is why I always recommend families with young children prepare for their session in advance. Usually, it's not something a rattler, or some colorful toy can't fix. But the kids (Corgi included) were pretty well-behaved, and the session went without much of a hitch.
