PROFESSIONAL MILITARY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

You've earned the uniform. Now make sure it's documented the right way. As a retired Air Force officer and active Navy Public Affairs Specialist, I know what a military portrait is supposed to look like — and I know how rarely service members prioritize getting one. Whether it's for a promotion board, a retirement ceremony, or something your family will frame and keep forever, this is how you make sure your service is remembered with the honor it deserves.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What Should I Wear for My Military Portrait?

A: Your uniform is usually the best choice for a military portrait, whether it’s your dress uniform or service-specific attire. Make sure your uniform is clean, pressed, and up to regulation standards. If you’d like to include additional attire, such as a cover, bring that along, and we can capture a variety of looks.

A: Yes! I encourage incorporating meaningful props, such as medals, flags, or service awards, to personalize your session. If you’d like to include family members in some of the photos, we can plan for a mix of individual portraits and group shots to create a meaningful collection.

A: Sessions can take place in my studio or at a location of your choice, like a base or a location that holds significance for you. If you prefer an outdoor shoot, we’ll work together to choose a spot that complements the look and feel you’re going for.

A: Most sessions last about 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of looks and setups you’d like. This allows us to take our time capturing both formal and more relaxed images while keeping the session efficient and enjoyable.

A: I occasionally travel to key military hubs for portrait sessions. If you're outside my current service area, I recommend signing up for my waitlist to be notified when I’ll be in your city.
