Pensacola, Florida is known for many things, but quality fashion and headshot photographers can be hard to come by in the small military town. Luckily for Andre, he found the right photographer to help him build his modeling portfolio.
Starting a Modeling Portfolio
Andre contacted me after a long period of consideration. His friends had been telling him that he had the features and style to be a great model - but life had kept his creativity on the backburner. Fortunately, the timing and opportunities aligned for him, and he booked me for a session.
After meeting Andre, I would be inclined to agree that his friends were giving him good advice. He's a tall and handsome guy, with a fantastic sense of style. When I asked what he had in mind for his session, he already had a plan: an outdoor session on the historic Palafox Blvd. in downtown Pensacola. I didn't even need to tell him to plan his outfits, as he already had that covered.
We began our session at Plaza Ferdinand the III, just across the street from the reputable Seville Quarter. After getting a few photos in front of the fountain, we made our way to the steps of the Artel Gallery across the street.
As we were shooting, an employee came outside to see what we were up to. I braced myself to hear, "you can't shoot here without a permit," but to my surprise he invited us to shoot inside if we wanted! I smiled to myself, as this never would happen in Los Angeles. Going inside, we shot on the staircase, getting some cool images that definitely helped the session.
We finished up on the sidewalk down the street. Andre was unfazed by passersby as we shot - already demonstrating great posing ability and composure under pressure. By the end of it all, we were both very satisfied by how the session turned out.
