The Kraft Family Mini Session at Pensacola Beach

It's more commonly known for being a vacation destination here in the panhandle of Florida, but Pensacola Beach is also a great location for a Family Photoshoot! With soft white sands that gleam and turquoise-colored waves, it's a very picturesque place to bring the 'fam for some fun in the sun - and get some precious memories captured while you're at it. It's for that reason that I met the Kraft family on Pensacola Beach last month for a lovely family photo mini-session.

The Kraft family had recently relocated here for military service, and wanted to capture a memento for their time here in the area. We considered several locations during our initial consultation, including the popular NAS Lighthouse, but we eventually decided on Pensacola Beach for the family photoshoot. In this area, there's no shortage of Pensacola Family Photographers to choose from, but they decided to book with Austen Hunter because of all the good things they had heard.

Because of the scenery and aesthetic, beach photoshoots almost always look good, but I brought my trusty Godox AD200 as my off-camera flash to provide some extra light for the session. With our shoot planned for 3pm, the sun was still high enough in the sky to have the potential to cast some ugly shadows on my subjects, and having the extra fill light would prevent that.

It can be tedious working with flash sometimes, but it's all part of my philosophy of capturing my clients in their best light. Whether it's through posing, outfit planning, or using controlled lighting, it's important to me to make sure my clients get images that make them look and feel good.

We started our session in front of the famous Pensacola Beach Ball and then worked our way down to the beach. The Krafts chose a really nice split-complimentary color scheme of teal and orange. It was a short, but sweet session. We all had a great time, especially the kids, who enjoyed getting silly in front of the camera.

The best thing about beach sessions is there's always a boardwalk nearby where you can celebrate a successful photoshoot with some food and drink. Or, you can ditch the camera gear and jump right in the water, if that's your thing. If you need a Family photographer in Pensacola for your beach photoshoot, get in touch with me and we'll capture some unforgettable moments.
