Los Angeles Portrait Photographer
Choose the Right Portrait Photographer
I do business with many clients who are absolutely frustrated over their previous photographer experiences. Many of the common complaints include:
The photographer they hired didn't ask the right questions to find out the client's needs before they started smashing that shutter button.
The photographer did not guide the client through the session, making the experience of being photographed awkward and uncomfortable.
The photographer did not provide images that the client was satisfied with, either through poorly composed/edit photosm, or through a poorly-curated batch of nearly identical photos that the client then needs to pick through to find one they like.
Do any of these points remind you of a previous photography experience? While I've written on the importance of choosing the right photographer in the past, most people just don't know what to look for when it comes to finding the right portrait photographer. Unfortunately, if they don't ask the right questions, the chances they end up hiring a photographer that isn't a good fit for their needs increases dramatically. This leads to the worst outcome of all for clients seeking quality portrait photographs; it's something I like to call 'Photography Regret'.
Some of the ways I help my clients avoid Photography Regret is to assess their needs right away and tell them plainly if I'm the right photographer for them. If I am, I make sure to ask the right questions before our session so they come prepared and looking their best. This includes location and outfit planning for all my sessions.
Through my expertise, I carefully lead my all my clients through their sessions with posing directions, helpful information, and a relaxed attitude that creates a portrait photography experience that they love.
Why I Shoot Portraits
There are so many different genres of photography to specialize in, and I always get asked the question, "Why portraits?" For me, the answer is simple: Portraits celebrate life. Whether it's a family, a couple, or an individual, portraits tell the story of who you are and what's important to you. They are a way to cherish loved ones or pass memories on to a future generation. They can also be a form of self-love or self-empowerment. I enjoy portraits because I enjoy people, and helping them create powerful images that tell their story is a rewarding experience that I love, too.
