Vee's Pensacola Business Headshot Photos

Vee runs a lucrative nail salon and nail artist Youtube channel. She needed professional headshots to showcase her personal brand. Here's how we shot her business headshots at my photography studio:

Let's talk about what exactly a business headshot is, first. Business headshots, like the name implies, are professional headshots that represent your brand or business. Most often, subjects where business attire but this can vary depending on the industry they are involved in. Business headshots are typically captured from the Subject's waist or chest up. Sometimes, they will only have the subject's head in the frame. When it comes to deciding which crop works best for you, it's important to consider the intended message you want to convey to your viewers. Do you want to give the impression you are professional, yet friendly? Or is it more important for your brand to look serious and competent? Having a desired impression in mind will 100% make your business headshots turn out better.

For Vee's business headshots, capturing her image from the waist and up allowed her to provide valuable brand context to her audience through posing. Vee is a subject matter expert on nails and needed to communicate that to her prospective clients. In order to convey this, we opted for this crossed-arm power pose that couldn't be achieved with a tighter crop.

The crossed-arm shot is a very popular pose for business headshots, as it conveys confidence, knowledge, and professionalism. The smile accentuates the pose by adding a welcome and inviting expression to what might otherwise be considered a closed-off pose.

Blending confidence with friendliness was Vee's goal going into her business headshot session. Remember, when it comes to headshots, you are the context! Unlike portraits, where background typically conveys some context to the image, headshots really only involve you. That is why posing and expression is so important for a business headshot session.
